Duties & Responsibilities

CBS Squared, Inc. seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician in any of our offices!

The position is for full-time employment.  The candidate must-have 2+ years of GIS experience working with Esri software/products and experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.  Experience in the following engineering disciplines is preferred:
  • Transportation
  • Municipal
  • Water/Wastewater

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.  Experience in municipal asset management is a plus. A candidate with a GISP (GIS Professional) certification is a plus. The ideal candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of types and sizes of projects.  The position requires the candidate to hold a valid driver’s license and be able to provide their own transport to project sites if necessary.  The candidate will be reimbursed for use of their vehicle when used for business related activities.  We offer an excellent benefit and compensation package.

Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:

GIS/Asset Management
  • Assist in the design and development of asset management systems.
  • Assist in data development, data editing, data conversion, quality control and asset verification.
  • Work with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, Survey 123, Field Maps and more interfaces to develop products for clients and internal project usage.
  • Assist in exhibit/map preparation for all departments within the company.
  • Data analytics, process/procedure development, modeling, Python/Arcade coding and other tasks related to engineering processes/projects.
  • Assist in development of standards and procedures for GIS internal to the company.
Civil Engineering/CAD Production
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D software to produce drawings for civil projects.
  • General surveying and measuring of existing features in the field as needed for civil engineering, Asset Management and other projects.
  • Assist Project Managers and Lead Designers in the preparation of engineering plans, related drawings, specifications and construction documents.
  • Utilize CAD software to perform detailed layout and design of transportation and municipal projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD (Civil3D) to perform plan preparation.
  • Performing other tasks deemed necessary by project manager from time to time.

Qualifications

The appropriately qualified candidate will have the following core competencies and required experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography or related field.
  • Competency in Esri GIS software and applications.
  • Competency with a CAD system (Civil 3D desired), Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good numeracy and computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
