Duties & Responsibilities

CBS Squared, Inc. seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a Project Manager/Project Engineer in our Chippewa Falls or Appleton, Wisconsin offices.

The position is for full-time employment.  

Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Lead the design of larger scale building design projects.
  • Project Manage small to medium building and/or bridge design projects.
  • Utilize design software to produce construction drawings for clients.
  • Assist in estimating the cost to complete engineering work and direct others to do the same.
  • Leading engineering staff in the preparation of engineering designs, related drawings, specifications and construction project estimates.
  • Utilize CAD software to perform detailed layout and design of building and/or bridge projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to perform plan preparation.  Mathcad and/or Revit experience desired.
  • Produce various design options on screen and hard copy, following a manager's or technical professional's direction.
  • Performing other tasks deemed necessary by project manager from time to time.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a Wisconsin Professional Engineer license or able to obtain one within one year of employment.

Experience in WisDOT bridge design, plan preparation and construction administration is a plus.  Depending on design and construction experience, the candidate may be able to work into Project Management quickly.  The ideal candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of projects both large- and small-scale.

The position requires the candidate to hold a valid driver’s license and be able to provide their own transport to project sites as necessary.  The candidate will be reimbursed for use of their vehicle when used for business related activities.

The appropriately qualified candidate will have the following core competencies and required experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design of bridge and/or building projects.  
  • A high level of competency with a CAD system, Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Must be able to interpret technical specifications; good math & CAD skills are required.
  • A sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
  • Experience in building design and plan preparation are preferred.  
  • Good numeracy and computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • An understanding of engineering processes and construction methods.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Creative flair.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to meet deadlines.
