Duties & Responsibilities

CBS Squared, Inc. seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a CAD Technician in any of our six offices (Chippewa Falls, Appleton, Madison, Waukesha, La Crosse WI, or Minneapolis MN).

The candidate will be involved in drafting of municipal, water, wastewater, structural, county, and transportation related projects. The applicant must have recent experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation Open Roads.

The position is for full-time employment.
Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:
  • Utilizing Civil3D/Open Roads CAD software to perform detailed drafting of transportation and municipal projects.
  • Utilizing CAD to perform plan preparation.
  • Producing various design options on screen and hard copy, following a manager's or technical professional's direction.
  • Operating the plotter to transfer developed drawings to an appropriate medium.
  • Performing other tasks deemed necessary by project manager from time to time.
  • General surveying and measuring of existing features in the field.
  • Construction administration of municipal projects.

Qualifications

Experience in plan preparation is preferred. Desirable experience includes general surveying and AutoCAD/MicroStation software. The ideal candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of projects both large- and small-scale. The position requires the candidate to hold a valid driver’s license and be able to provide their own transport to project sites, as necessary. The appropriately qualified candidate will have the following core competencies and required experience:

  • Associate degree plus a minimum of Two (2) years of experience desired.
  • A high level of competency with AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, Open Roads, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Must be able to interpret technical specifications; good math & CADD skills are required.
  • Willing to assist with surveying or field work a plus.
  • A sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
  • Good numeracy and computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of material properties.
  • An understanding of engineering processes and construction methods.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to meet deadlines.
